Version 2.0 — 23 December 2006:
- DarkAdapted Pro (Mac only):
- DarkAdapted may now run as DarkAdapted Pro, which includes independent display control, scroll wheel support, event scheduling, and more (see below). DarkAdapted Pro must be registered via the Internet.
- Added ability to control multiple displays independently.
- Scheduling Window implemented (Edit menu -> Scheduling...), allowing you to schedule gamma fades at predetermined times including sunset and sunrise, affecting one or more displays.
- Expanded Applescript support to handle multiple display situations and other Pro-only features. Check the sample Applescript included with the Mac download for usage examples.
- Added scroll wheel support to Presets pop-up menu and gamma sliders.
- Macintosh-Specific Changes:
- Universal Binary introduced.
- Updated Sample Applescript included.
- Implemented Registration Window
- Windows-Specific Changes:
- Disabled Closing Main Window Quits DarkAdapted preference control, since this could leave the DarkAdapted process running with no user interface on Windows.
- Added Donate window, accessible via the Special menu.
- Changes to All Platforms:
- Added Gang Sliders control, which moves all sliders in unison, preserving relative gamma values. Note that enabling Gang Sliders may reduce the length of the slider controls, in order to maintain relative gamma values.
- Gamma Toggle Keys are now system-wide hotkeys, instead of scanned modifier keys. This increases responsiveness, and reduces CPU usage (see below).
- Reduced CPU usage on all platforms. Usage should be near 0% when the Refresh gamma values preference is turned off, except when DarkAdapted is checking for program updates or initializing (initialization can occur for up to 60 seconds after launch).
- Default Gamma Toggle Keys have changed. On Mac, they are Command + Shift + return; on Windows they are Control + Shift + return.
- Gamma control code has been extensively revised and optimized, resulting in smoother gamma fades and improved responsiveness.
- Added three items to Special menu: DarkAdapted User Guide...; DarkAdapted Read Me File...; and License Agreement... which open the corresponding .pdf files on the hard disk. For DarkAdapted to find these, they must reside in the same folder as DarkAdapted, or in a subfolder named “Documentation”.
- Gamma Toggle Keys no longer perform a gamma reset (this led to a problem on some multiple-monitor setups). To perform a gamma reset when toggling to Full Brightness, hold down the mouse button while using the toggle keys.
- Internet Update Window: Cancelling a download now deletes the partially-downloaded file.
- Internet Update Window: Contextual menu is now accessible when the click point is the update text field.
- Internet Update Window: Download file is now saved as a temporary file, then copied to its destination at the completion of the download. This forces all operating systems to immediately display the correct file icon, and works better when downloading to a directory that is set to automatically expand its contents.
- Internet Update Window: Downloaded files are set to read/write permissions for the ‘owner’ and ‘group’ on operating systems that support this.
- Internet Update Window: Now offers the option to decompress the file after downloading.
- Build Number now displays in Finder Info and Explorer Properties Windows.
- Donation and registration links now open the shopping cart instead of requiring a product selection.
- Improved memory management.
- Updated User Guide.
- Bug Fixes:
- Internet Update no longer fails to gather weekly updates after the first weekly check.
- Fixed bug where launching, immediately changing a slider value, then using the gamma toggle keys would sometimes fail to toggle back to the non-full gamma setting.
